For Immediate Release – Led by the greatest coaching minds in America, USA East Coast Basketball has announced the rosters for all three (Red, White, and Blue) teams preparing to represent the United States in Spain this August.
USA East Coast Basketball, in cooperation with Moneyball Sportwear, Anthony Travel, Cleveland Brothers – CAT, and Nike will be conducting a two-day training camp at Manhattan College in New York City before heading to Valencia and Barcelona for games against opponents from Spain and France. The teams are comprised of players from all three NCAA levels. Team Red, led by Larry Brown, and Team White, led by Jim Boeheim, will have several Division I players with Division II and III players as well. Team Blue, led by Frank Martin and assisted by Fran McCaffery, will be comprised of players from Ivy League and Little Ivy institutions.
Team Red will have the most experience of the three American teams as both Buddy Boeheim (Syracuse) and Evan Battey (Colorado) are joining USA East Coast for a second time. Boeheim took part in the 2019 USA Basketball Training Camp while Battey was with the 2018 team in Venice, Italy. Team Red will be tough to beat with Dajuan Harris (Kansas), Joey Baker (Duke), Patrick McCaffery (Iowa), and Paul Mulcahy (Rutgers) among others.
Team White is ready for double-trouble in more ways than one. With two dynamic guards in Providence College’s Jared Bynum (1st in assist to turnover ratio, top 4 in the Big East) and Manhattan College’s Anthony Nelson (Seton Hall transfer was one of the best in the MAAC in points, assists, steals, and FT%) Team White’s backcourt will be a challenge for opponents. The next combination of talent will come from twins as Iowa’s Keegan and Kristopher Murray prepare to fill the shoes of Luka Garza in Iowa City next season. Keegan was one of the top players nationally in points, blocks, steals, and threes last season and Kris is projected to do much of the same in 2021-22.
Team Blue will get to do something they haven’t done since 2019…actually play a game! The Ivy League and much of the Little Ivy did not participate in games last season and this talented bunch is ready to go! The power of the team’s front court will quickly be noticed as Brown University’s Tamenang Choh (2nd Team All-Ivy), Jaylan Gainey (Ivy Defensive Player of the Year), and Dartmouth College’s Nate Ogbu establish themselves around the rim. The perimeter will be ready-to-fire with Amherst College’s Garrett Day (46%) and Brandeis University’s Collin Sawyer (45%) in wait. Columbia University’s Zavian McLean and Liam Murphy will be two wings to look out for and New York University’s flashy tandem of Cinque Stephens and Ephraim Reed will make this a fun team to watch.
The teams will have two days to prepare once arriving in Valencia before facing two Spanish professional all-star teams and one French professional all-star team. Game times are currently TBA but will have a viewing option available which will be announced here once game times are released.
